A Message from Executive Director, Jeannette Frank
November is Family Caregivers Month. In the season of giving and gratitude, The Arc of Schuyler would like to recognize the individuals and families in our community who play a valuable role in enhancing the quality of life for their loved ones.
Providing care to an ill child, older parent, or family member with a developmental disability may be a 24/7 responsibility that requires time management, flexibility, and patience. In addition to medication and wellness management, transportation, and physical assistance, caregivers provide emotional support, a positive attitude, perseverance, and empathy. The experience can be physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding, but also rewarding.
The Arc also recognizes the dedication of direct support professionals who assist families by providing respite care and services in the home to relieve family caregivers and support their loved ones in enjoying a purposeful and fulfilling life.
To all family caregivers and direct support professionals, thank you for your hard work, dedication, and for making the world a more compassionate place.
