Franklin Street Gallery and Gift Shop will host an artist reception for photographer, Dan Gallagher on Friday, February 2, 5 – 8 PM. The public is welcome to meet Gallagher at the reception and view his work throughout the month of February.
Dan Gallagher is a professional fine arts photographer from Corning, NY whose goal is to create an intimate view of nature art that captures the incredible beauty and warmth seen around us every day.
Gallagher’s creativity stems from his appreciation of the world around him. According to him “As viewers, we find ourselves both calmed and challenged by seeing others’ depictions of the world around us.”
Gallagher thinks that local galleries provide an opportunity for people to hone a wide array of temperament and skills.
“In this day when science and industry seem to dominate our culture, an artist’s voice in our children’s lives is very important. It’s a voice that offers an alternative view of what a good life means. To do that, you need artists living and creating within our communities, not just at a distance.”
Also opening February 2 is the “Winter in Watkins” exhibit, a multi-artist show focusing on artists’ interpretations of the winter season in Watkins Glen and surrounding areas. Gallery visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite piece to win the People’s Choice award.
